Investing 102: Where to invest??

Alright, so you've thought long and hard and decided that the money you were going to squander on the next 10 consecutive taco tuesdays in a row would be better spent as an investment for your future.
Next, you scrape together the coins from under the couch cushions, empty out the ol' piggy bank and grab the last of the "tuition fund" that you've been hanging onto just in case a new version of an iphone comes out.
Now an entire new question rears its head where do you put the money? You may know a great stock, or think you do, but you first need to put your money in a brokerage so you can buy and sell your stocks. Where becomes a huge question, will it be Fidelity, Ameritrade, Etrade, Scottrade, TradeKing, the list goes on and on, these brokerages all are bending over backwards to get your money. Do a little research before just flinging your hard earned money in, the brokerage sites vary quite a bit on price per trade, level of customer service, and research help.
Depending on how often you would like to trade, the degree to which you research, and if you care about a live person on the phone, if a problem should occur, will dictate which brokerage to settle with. In the end you will have piece of mind that you finally got the ball rolling on your future finances however bleak they currently look.
