Death of the Floppy Disk

Sony has announced that they are going to stop producing floppy disks by March 2011 due to decreasing demand for it. I didn't even know people were still this format. I remember around 15 years ago when my parents bought our first computer for $5000, the price of a used car. Over the months, the amount of floppy disks my parents accumulated was enormous. Programs for the computer would be stored over 10 floppy disks, and if you lost one, you'd be out of luck. In school, I remember there was a typing class, and the programs we used to help us practice were on the big fatty floppy disks. Each year the floppy disk would get smaller and more stiff. When my older brother figured out how to copy video games across floppy disks it was amazing. Free games! However, there were videos that were shown in class like....

There is also an updated version for CDs I believe, but I haven't seen it yet. So 1 year from now, floppy disks will be added to the catalog of old technology. When was the last time you used a floppy disk?
