Myspace vs. Facebook

So, is the battle against myspace and facebook over? We thought so when Facebook appeared to be on top with over 400 million users over myspace's 114 million. But, myspace is not making an effort to reposition itself in the world of social networking. Myspace is attempting to create an advantage to all of the negative news about facebook's privacy situation. They are changing their privacy settings to have three different options about who can see profiles: friends, public, or public to those 18 and older. It is an upgrade to their prior simple private/public option, but doesn't see too different from facebook's privacy settings. What is different though is the default is set to friends only while facebook is set to everybody.

But, wasn't there a reason why users left myspace? Personally, myspace got too spammy while facebook revolutionized social media itself.
