Marketing Sherpa came out with an interesting chart about how businesses perceive social media at budget time. 49% believe that social media is a promising strategy and eventually will provide ROI but budget should be allocated conservatively. For next 27% social media is an unknown medium; for them it worth investing but only extra resources. 17% think social media is free and want to keep it this way (meaning no budget). And for only 7% social media is producing a measurable ROI, these organizations are willing to continue investing in it.
